LoRa network configuration

SPN is designed to handle the communication with multiple endpoint devices over the LoRa protocol. The list of all the registered endpoint devices constitutes the fleet

The LoRa protocol relies on multiple parameters such as frequencies, class, IDs ,… To use an endpoint device with SPN, the endpoint device and the gateway need to use the same parameters.

There are parameters that are common to the entire fleet:

  • Regional parameters (The LoRa protocol depends on the region)
  • Rx frequencies

There are parameters that are specific to each endpoint device:

  • Class (A or C)
  • Type (Over The Air Activation, Acitvation By personalization)
  • Pairing IDs (Device adress, network session key, …)
  • Response window slot and frequency

A few kind of motes use pre-defined parameters. In this case, only the station needs to be configured (with the same parameters).

More information about the LoRa protocol can be found on the LoRa-alliance website.
